Liza Lou changed my life.
I saw “Kitchen” in Cincinnati in 1999. Funny, but when I just looked that up I was amazed it was so recent, because in my mind I had seen it as a teenager. She didn’t even finish it until I was in my 30’s. I guess it affected me so profoundly that I can’t imagine a time before I had seen it.
“Backyard” is pretty amazing too, but it didn’t carry the shock for me that the first work did. Her non-representative work since this is delicious, but not for this blog.
